John P. McGovern, CPA, ABV, CVA - Partner

John has been an integral part of Rodman & Rodman since 1992 and has over twenty years experience in the profession. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1976 with a degree in education, John also received a degree in accounting, with honors, from Jersey State College in 1984.

John plays a key role in the firm’s audit, accounting and tax engagements, with a particular emphasis in pass-through entities such as S Corporations and Limited Liability Companies. He works closely with his business clients to ensure they are operating in a fashion that enhances profits while maintaining a proactive approach toward tax planning and reduction. John particularly appreciates the high degree of integrity, dedication to employees and entrepreneurial spirit exhibited by his clients. John also credits the team spirit, attention to clients’ needs and professionalism of the team members he works with at Rodman & Rodman to the overall success of the firm.

John is a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) as well as a CPA, and has over twenty years of experience in valuing privately held businesses in a number of different industries. He has performed business valuations for many purposes, including:

John has a variety of interests outside of the profession. John has been playing guitar for many years as a member of the Male Bonding Band, a band organized to play rock, oldies and country music. The band performs to raise money and support many charitable organizations in the Boston area. John also plays ice hockey and credits his wicked slapshot to the wrist strengthening which is inherent in many years of operating a calculator. John also loves to spend his spare time traveling and enjoying life with his wife Marty and sons Zachary and Dillon.
